Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael - messengers and servants of God, each carrying a name that reveals a divine truth. Michael - “Who is like God?” His name is a rhetorical battle cry, not a question - proclaiming that no one compares to God. Michael is the defender of Heaven, protector of the Church, and champion of humility. Gabriel - “God is my strength” He is the messenger of God’s mighty plan, announcing the births of John the Baptist and Jesus. His name reminds us that God strengthens those He sends. Raphael - “God heals” Appearing in the Book of Tobit, Raphael brings healing to Tobit’s eyes and freedom to Sarah. His name is a promise that God brings restoration to body and soul. St. Michael, defend us. St. Gabriel, speak to us. St. Raphael, heal us.
