Augustine Zhao Rong was a Chinese soldier converted by watching a French missionary suffer with courage. He became a priest, and was tortured to death in 1815. With him today we honor 120 martyrs of China, Chinese and foreign, lay and ordained, who died for the faith over four centuries. The Gospel belongs to no single nation. It belongs to every soul.
