"Behold, your mother." - Jesus from the Cross

These were among the last words Jesus spoke from the Cross - given not just to the beloved disciple, but to every disciple of every age. Pope Francis added today's memorial to the universal Roman Calendar in 2018, fixing it always to the Monday after Pentecost to remind the Church that she has a mother, and to give that mother her place beside the Spirit in the Church's birth.
