Tertullian

"The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church." — Tertullian

In AD 64, Nero blamed Christians for the burning of Rome and had them torn apart by dogs, crucified, and set alight in his gardens as human torches. The Church should have died that year. Instead it spread. Today we remember the first martyrs of Rome... most of them nameless, all of them seed.
